The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing daily financial operations, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing financial insights to support Retailpay’s growth and innovation.
Job Description
Financial Reporting & Record Keeping
o Maintain accurate and timely financial records in line with IFRS and Kenyan regulations.
o Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
o Ensure proper classification of project -related revenues, expenses, and capital expenditures.
Budgeting & Forecasting
o Assist in preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
o Monitor budget implementation and highlight variances.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
o Manage daily cash flow and ensure availability of funds for operations.
o Monthly cash and bank reconciliations
o Monitor loans and other company’s liabilities to ensure timely settlement.
4. Accounts Payable & Receivable
o Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payments.
o Assist on allocation of receivables from clients, including subscription and software license payments.
o Work closely with project leads to ensure proper customer balances.
Tax & Compliance
o Ensure timely submission and payment of taxes (PAYE, VAT, WHT, Corporate Tax).
o Prepare for audits and liaise with external auditors and KRA.
o Stay updated on changes in tax laws affecting the IT sector.
Asset & Inventory Management
o Track assets including hardware and software licenses.
o Maintain an up-to-date asset register.
- 7. Internal Controls o Implement and maintain financial controls and SOPs.

Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and financial regulations.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams including developers, implementors, and project managers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA-K or ACCA certification is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a finance/accounting role, preferably in the IT or tech industry.
- Experience with ERP systems or accounting software like QuickBooks, Xero or Sage.
